When you look at things from a binary perspective, it doesn’t work.  There are very few absolutes.  There are many colors and possibilities.  In Feng Shui, maps were created and energies were assigned to compass directions or home, office and land space directions.  Energies were assigned colors and elements.  That assumes energies are locked in.  We understand it was a way of teaching energy to people who didn’t perceive and communicate with the energy.  When you work with energy, don’t assume you know the answers to specific things.  Think about what you desire to create.  That is the energy.  Then ask the energy where it would like to be represented in your home.  Create a flow of the energy instead of anchoring it.  Do that for whatever you desire.  Let the energy be what it is.  Create from your passions and desires.  Work with the energy instead of controlling it.  You will find creation works much better for you.
